Problem:
These home owners said “out with the oak cabinets”. They needed pantry space and they wanted wine storage, a gas cooktop and paneled vent hood, double ovens, a warming drawer, and microwave. The kitchen was dark and there was limited view of the beautifully landscaped yard from the kitchen. Oh yes, and yellow was a favorite color. |
Solution:
Larger windows were added at the corner sink to allow more natural light to enter the kitchen as well as provide a better view of the backyard landscape and deck area. A new 36” dual fuel range with vent hood gave the cook the best of both worlds – the fine control of gas and the even temperature and air flow of an electric convection oven. The GE Advantium wall oven does triple duty as a microwave, warming drawer and second convection oven. A walk-in pantry, hidden behind the doors of the corner cabinet, adds easily accessible and much needed storage. A new wine cooler completes the wish list.
The raised panel door style of the cabinets has long been a hallmark of fine cabinetry. This traditional door style was given a contemporary lift through a unique finishing process. The cabinets were first stained in a yellow opaque stain then hand-rubbed with a chocolate glaze finish to accentuate the fine details of the cabinets. The end result is the feeling of fine furniture.
Details, details, details! Working with Interior Designer, Andrea Singbush, the couple chose DuPont Zodiaq, for the countertop in Giallo Michelangelo. An engineered quartz which was selected not only for its looks but for its durability and resistance to heat and scratches. The backsplash is a faux tin. The tiles behind the range are creatively run on a vertical pattern. The wall color is Sherwin Williams, Impressive Ivory. Window treatments were custom made.
